Digest 2025 October
This October, our team is excited to introduce the new and improved Text Refiner module, now available in DataTile as an add-on feature. You’ll also find several other enhancements and upgrades described in this digest.
Text Refiner
The next generation of Text Refiner is available on the DataTile platform. This version is fully integrated into the Meta-Editor, features an updated, user-friendly interface, and supports dictionaries and rule-based coding.
Text Refiner is designed to efficiently group open-ended responses into categorized clusters using dictionaries, rules, and string-similarity algorithms. This ensures users have a streamlined, accessible tool that simplifies data analysis and converts free-form answers into neatly categorized variables.
Database activity log
In the database settings, you can now export the activity log for different periods, including a detailed record of all user actions.
Brief activity information is available in the Activity panel within the Drive, but the history here is limited to three months. The activity log is located in the database settings under the Activity tab, where you can select the period you want to observe and download the data to Excel.

Significance legend included in Excel export
When exporting to Excel from a crosstab or dashboard, the significance legend will now also be included, fully reflecting the configured settings.

Segmentation for a single numeric variable
For numeric variables, you can now define a segment that doesn’t currently include any existing values, useful when you expect those values to appear in future waves.
Previously, it wasn’t possible to create a segment if a numeric variable contained only a single value. However, in the next wave, that value might change. Now, you can define a segment even when the numeric variable has only one value. For example, when the numeric field represents a standard or norm that is the same for all respondents in the first wave but may vary in the next.
Complete duplicate variable validation
We’ve enhanced the duplicate name check to make it more comprehensive and user-friendly. Previously, the system stopped at the first duplicate it encountered when columns had the same title. Now, the entire dataset is scanned, and all duplicate columns are listed in a single step, allowing you to review and correct them, ensuring cleaner imports.
WEBP Support
DataTile now supports the WEBP image format for project logos and image bundles, in addition to JPG, PNG, and BMP.
