This release brings several improvements to DataTile focused on calculation accuracy, data management, and overall usability. Highlights include a new AVG.P.FULL formula for more flexible average calculations, enhanced search capabilities in the Meta-Editor, midpoint support in codebooks, and better SPSS file import handling. Read on for the details.
New MATH formula: AVG.P.FULL
A new MATH formula, AVG.P.FULL (average post full), has been added to improve average calculations when system-missing values are present.
Masking, filters, and other operations can change crosstab data, so it's important to control which values are included in the final calculation. The existing AVG.P (average post) formula calculates the average after table-level operations have been applied. However, it ignores SYSMIS values and excludes those cells from the calculation.
AVG.P.FULL also calculates the average after masking and other operations, but treats system-missing values as zeros while still including the corresponding rows or columns in the average calculation. This allows averages to be calculated across the full set of presented categories, even when some cells contain SYSMIS values.
Enhanced database search
A new search panel has been added to the Meta-Editor settings, making it easier to find variables in large and well-structured databases.
You can now search:
-
across the entire database, including all folders and subfolders;
-
within selected folders, with or without their subfolders;
-
taking variable visibility into account.
This significantly improves navigation and usability when working with large databases in the Meta-Editor.
Midpoint support in codebooks
Midpoint values are now supported in codebooks (v2) for both primary and subsequent uploads. You can define midpoints directly on the Values sheet instead of configuring them in the Meta-Editor.
If midpoint values need to be edited, download the codebook, edit the values, and upload it again. The database will be updated accordingly.
Improved SPSS file import
Continuing our database upload improvements, DataTile now supports importing category labels for MR sets directly from SPSS files.
If category values are defined within the source .sav file, they will be automatically imported into DataTile during upload, reducing the need for additional configuration.
