Grouping and bulk editing of variables

In Meta-Editor, variables with the same set of categories can be grouped. Once grouped, any changes made to one variable are automatically applied to all variables in the group. This saves significant time when editing multiple variables and helps prevent inconsistencies caused by repetitive manual edits.

If you try to group variables with different sets of categories, the group will not be created, and the system will display a warning message.

How to group variables

In Meta-Editor, select variables that need to be grouped, click the ‘Actions’ button → the ‘Group’ option.

After a group is created, each variable in the group displays an indicator showing that it belongs to a group. If multiple groups exist, each group is identified by a different indicator color.

Using bulk editing in groups

Changes made to any variable in a group are automatically applied to all other variables in that group. This is why all grouped variables must have identical category sets.

After creating a group, simply select any variable in the group and make the required changes. They will be synchronized across all grouped variables automatically.

You can simultaneously change for all grouped variables:

Note: If you need to modify only one variable, first remove it from the group. You can then edit it independently without affecting the other grouped variables.

How to ungroup variables

Variables can be removed from a group individually, or you can ungroup the entire set at once.

To do this, select any variable in the group and open the submenu in the category panel. Depending on the variable type, you will see either the MR-set menu or the standard actions menu. Select Edit, the first option in the menu, to manage the group.

To remove a single variable from the group, click the Delete ('Trash') icon next to that variable.

To ungroup all variables at once, click Ungroup All at the top of the panel.
