Inclusion patterns for MR-sets
Longitudinal studies often involve making changes to questionnaires from wave to wave, which implies making changes to the codebook as well. DataTile offers a time-saving hack that will help you automatically include new options in MR-sets. It is based on using common inclusion patterns and requires some prior preparations with proper naming for options in a codebook.
Use any constant name pattern coding the answers to the multi-response question (e.g., 'UA_' for Unaided awareness). Ensuring that your variable names are consistent across all waves is important.
After the naming is done, DataTile detects the pattern and suggests using it during the creation of the MR-set in Meta-Editor. Tick the box to include all future answers in the existing MR-set automatically.
You can enable or disable automatic addition by pattern at any time, not just during the initial creation. To do this, click the ‘cog’ icon next to the MR-set variable in the codebook to open the settings popup, then tick or untick the checkbox to apply your preference.
