Digest 2024 June
Updated over a week ago

In this digest edition, we cover the latest innovations for June to keep you up to date with useful implementations.

Here is a brief recap:

  1. New control-widget interaction feature - For each - complemented by an impressive new capability to export multiplied charts via the Report Generator.

  2. A completely new approach to displaying and managing menus in dashboards.

  3. New metric in DataTile - Count per Capita.

  4. Interlinking on Dashboards: direct links to tabs/dashboards.

  5. Optional turn-off of significance calculation for values with a low base.

  6. Adding a legend for residuals in Significance settings.

  7. The possibility to collapse all folders in the codebook hierarchy in DVI.

'For each' option

The ‘For each’ option was implemented to address the limitations of split charts with fixed axes. There are scenarios where applying a split or filter results in charts that vary significantly in the number and order of variables. In such cases, the 'For each' option becomes essential.

This function multiplies cyclic charts independently (as opposed to splitting them) using the controls. When using a control that is assigned as ‘For each’, the charts corresponding to the selected option appear on the dashboard one below the other. Their axis structure may be different, depending on filters or sorting, missing variables are not displayed, etc. The visual appearance of the charts remains constant and is set only once.

Now, if you need to use the ‘for each’ option in the Report Generator, you can just specify the name of the widget (which will be later propagated) in the placeholders in the .pptx template, we get as output all the propagated charts arranged according to the specified placeholders. In this case, if the number of charts exceeds the number of placeholders, the system duplicates the slide and fills it in. It works with split charts as well.

Dashboard Menu upgrade

We are introducing a huge update to the look and feel of the dashboard menu, which is noticeable as changes have been made to all existing dashboards as well.

There are 3 options at your disposal:

  • Hamburger menu (tabs are hidden under the hamburger button and are accessed with a click);

  • Horizontal tabs (all tabs are displayed above the dashboard);

  • Left panel (all tabs are displayed in the pane on the left of the dashboard).

3 menu options

You can set up the menu to suit your needs by using only one type or by combining them. Each menu option has its color settings.

Regardless of the selected option, you can create a tabs hierarchy and manage it. For even more convenience, navigation in the menu hierarchy is also implemented with breadcrumbs.

Count per Capita

The Count per Capita (CpC) metric is used in MR-sets where the number of respondents and the number of replies is different, but we are interested in the value that would correspond to a single respondent. This metric is indispensable when you want to find out, for example:

  • how many responses one respondent gave on average to a multiple-choice question;

  • how many ratings above 8 on average in 12 scales were given by one respondent;

  • what is the average score on the 12 scales given by one respondent in the selected group etc.

For example, it allows us to calculate the average number of mentioned brands in the awareness questions, and then separately calculate the averages for women and men. As we can see from our example, men named 4.2 brands per capita, and women named 4.3 brands per capita.

Add tabs/dashboard links to the widget

On a dashboard, you can add a direct link to another tab or dashboard you have access to.

  • A link can be added to a text widget, which does not necessarily have to contain any text;

  • A link can be added to an image widget.

The entire widget will function as an active zone, and clicking on it in VIEW mode will trigger a redirection.

Example of interlinking

Optional turn-off of significance calculation for values with a low base

You can decide whether to apply comparisons to values with a low base and adjust it at the project settings level. One more checkbox was added especially for this purpose, which you can find by going to Project settings → Settings → Significance → checkbox ‘Don't calculate Significance for values with Low Base’.

Editable comparand label for residuals in Significance settings

You can now customize the legend caption when relevance for residuals is selected.

Go to the Project settings → Settings → Significance and fill in the field ‘Residual comparand label’.

By default the text ‘expected’ is indicated.

The 'Collapse all folders' button in DVI

A small interface tweak will make it more convenient for users who find it cumbersome to scroll through numerous variables in folders to locate the ones they need.

Collapse all folders button

Click on the button ‘Collapse all folders’ and all previously opened folders will be collapsed in their original form to make it easier to navigate through them. Note, that action is irrevocable. Here is an example of how it works.
