Changing ownership by passing selected entities to another user
Updated over a week ago

Certain operations on entities, such as cloning, publishing, and distribution, are restricted to the owners of those entities to ensure data safety and control. Therefore, you might need to transfer ownership of a particular entity to another user.

Any entity moved to a shared folder changes ownership to the owner of that folder.

Steps to Transfer Ownership of Selected Entities

  1. Create a Shared folder: The user to whom you intend to transfer the entity must share a folder in their account with you, granting Edit permissions. They can either create a new folder or share an existing one with you. This folder appears in the 'Shared With Me' section of your account.

  2. Move Entities: Move the entities you want to transfer into the shared folder.

  3. Ownership Transfer: All moved items will change ownership to the shared folder owner.

The user receiving the data must have the appropriate Creator role, such as Database Creator or Dashboard Creator, corresponding to the entities.

Alternative Methods for Transferring Ownership

DataTile allows to pass ownership of entities in bulk from one account to another:
