The Split feature allows you to add a third dimension to a table and a chart to see data patterns and how they compare.

Split by pane

Drag and drop the variables you want to represent the third dimension in a special pane called 'Split By' on the DVI.

Split by pane in DeX
  • You can add both single-variable options and multiple options from different variables;

  • You can add them separately ‘as list’ or combine them all together with OR-join function;

  • The creation of new options is also available after some variables are added to the Splits. You can make them on the fly by dragging new options to the panel and using logical operations from the pop-up menu. Also, you can open the split's menu, click on the logical expression builder icon, and create logical variables.

Split’s menu
  • You can activate/deactivate options by clicking on them on the pane or using the ‘eye’ icons in the menu;

  • You can delete options one at a time or all of them at once.

Split’s deletion

Even though the Splits are added in the crosstab mode, only two dimensions are available at a time in DVI. Here we can create the relevant variable, and check to see if it works.

The split drop zone is also available in the chart mode, and here it has the broader functionality. Please, read more about Splits on charts & dashboards.
