DataTile now enables you to publish charts as standalone entities. This means all the rich visualizations you create within DataTile can be directly published or embedded without needing to export to another format or use the entire dashboard.
Moreover, we've implemented new customization settings allowing you to add essential elements to explain your data - titles, descriptions, notes, and sources.
How to customize charts
Create a chart in DataTile as usual.
Save it ‘as chart’ using the ‘download as' icon in the right corner of the toolbar.
The chart is saved in My Space as a new entity. Go to My space and open it.
The chart publishing interface will open, displaying the settings pane and publishing status. Fill in the fields in the settings pane and click on the ‘RE-PUBLISH’ button at the top.
To edit a chart, go to the Data & Styles tab where the main chart settings are located.
Alternatively, you can edit the chart returning to the database. A line above the toolbar indicates that the published chart is being edited. After making changes, click the ‘SAVE’ button to be automatically redirected to the chart publishing interface.
Click ‘RE-PUBLISH’ again to apply changes.
How to share and embed charts
When the chart is published, the ‘Share & Embed’ button will appear, offering four options:
Link for sharing is a regular URL used to display the chart as you create it, useful for sharing on social media.
Link for embedding - a visualization only URL will show your chart sized to fill the entire browser window.
IFrame is used for embedding visualizations in WordPress or other systems without Web Components or JavaScript support.
Responsive IFrame is used for embedding visualizations in web pages without Web Component support. Compatible with 99% of browsers. Uses JavaScript and iframes.
Choose the option that best suits your needs. For instance, here's how it was used in a report article on the extensive Duamentes study.
How to unpublish charts
If you need to unpublish the chart, use the ‘Unpublish’ button hidden under the snowman icon.
Be aware that all shared links on third-party resources will remain active, displaying a 404 error instead of the unpublished chart. We advise removing links and IFrames before unpublishing.
