A ‘Selection strategy’ submenu in the control editor allows to preset the default control options which are selected every time the new viewer opens the dashboard.

The 'Selection strategy' submenu has four options: Manual, All, First, Last.

  • Manual: allows to pre-select the required options manually;

  • All: with this strategy all visible options will be selected by default. Note: the control selection mode should be ‘Multiple’ for this strategy to work.

  • First or Last: the ‘First’ and ‘Last’ selection strategies allow you to specify a numerical value to determine how many options are displayed in the control. ‘First’ will show the earliest listed categories according to the specified number, while the ‘Last’ strategy will display the latest categories.

Please, note that the control selection limitations are prior to the Selection strategy choice. For example, if you set 'multiple choice' with max 2 options for the control, you won't be able to pre-select three or more options in the 'Selection strategy'.

The screencast below shows how this option can be used to ensure that different options are pre-selected in VIEW mode.
