Data View: manage Syndicated studies
Data View: manage Syndicated studies
Updated over a week ago

Management of syndicated studies implies a significant burden of data processing, tracing, data upload, and user management that constitutes the significant cost of sales. The amount of boilerplate operations increases with the number of clients.

Usually, clients buy particular waves and sections of the database, i. e. demographics, FMCG, lifestyle, media consumption, etc. Back-office has to cut the database into corresponding chunks and maintain it further on. In many cases, the process of onboarding new clients implies the extension of the infrastructure and requires legal actions or cooperation with a third-party software provider.

DataTile for Syndicated studies

With the new concept of Data View, we provide an elegant way of managing a Syndicated database and it’s clients consistently in one place.

You just maintain the single affluent database of the Syndicated study and create customer-adapted Data Views onto it. Then, you share not the original database with the customers but the Data View that is relevant to them.

In DataTile you maintain only one central database of the Syndicated study. The rest is provided for you by the platform out of the box:

  • Creation of a DataView for a new segment as easy as one mouse click.

  • Granular data access configuration on the level of sections, waves, variables, categories, and data filters.

  • The provision of a Syndicated study to a customer is just a sharing of the particular DataView.

  • User access management can be reduced to an online subscription model eliminating the cost of a sales barrier.

Data View provides the same Data Explorer interface on top of its original Database. Consider it as an accessor to the same physical data where the manager can explicitly configure access restrictions with high granularity.

Data View is a first-class citizen in your Drive. Since it’s created you can share it with your clients or colleagues as any other entity.

Creation of Data Views

User is expected to have Syndicate Manager role to create Data Views.

The creation of a Data View is a two-click operation:

  1. Select the Database in your drive you want to create View for.

  2. Press the 'Data View' button on the toolbar.

DataTile will create Data View in the current folder next to its Database. From now on you can move this View or share it with other users independently from its source database. You do not need to worry about the consistency between Views and source Databases. DataTile will trace this dependency for you under the hood.

The number of Data Views is limited by 32 for each Database. Consider segmenting your clients to have one View per many users instead of peer sharing.

Configuration of Data View

Databases and Views are similar in many ways. The difference is that you cannot amend metadata or reload data via a View. Data View has strictly the same metadata hierarchy, labels, variables as its original database. Moreover, changes in data or metadata of the database are instantly reflected in every dependent View.

Data View inherits settings from its database at the moment of creation though they can be updated later independently.

Data View settings

The table below highlights the functional difference between a Database and its View. The simple comprehension principle is the following:

You cannot change anything related to data or its layout via a View. But you can change the visibility and tweak the behavior of Data Explorer of the View.
