Multiple tabs to organize requests

Updated over a month ago

You can have multiple tabs open simultaneously in the DVI. This feature is handy when working with crosstabs, allowing you to save each table separately. This way, you can easily refer to previous calculations if you need them.

Tabs are added one at a time by clicking on the 'plus icon in the top-left corner of the toolbar.

Adding new tab

Note! After a new empty tab is created you can't add more empty tabs before the first one is used.

All created tabs are held in the burger icon on the left side of the toolbar. Hover over it to open a pane with all open requests. To simplify your workflow, you can pin the tab pane to display it permanently and unpin it by clicking the 'pin' icon located at the top.

  • see a list of existing tabs,

  • switch between tabs,

  • rename a tab by double-clicking a label and editing it,

  • choose and delete a tab using the 'Del' button,

Additional tab menu

Some useful options can be found under the ‘snowman’ icon:

  1. Clone - this action makes the exact copy of the existing tab;

  2. Close request - this action closes the tab and removes the request from the list;

  3. Close other requests - one action closes all requests apart from the active one,

  4. Add to deck - this action saves the tab into the current deck.

  5. Copy to another database - see below.

How to copy a tab to another database

By clicking on the ‘Copy to another database’ you activate a popup window where you can choose the database the request will be copied to.

Keep in mind that copying is effective only when another dataset includes variables with the same codes. Otherwise, the copied request will need to be modified.

Find the target database within the popup. You may select from the three tabs: Recent, My Space, and Shared with Me, or utilize the search bar. Select the database and click on the ‘Copy’ button.

How to download tabs

You can also download all tabs in one click to PowerPoint or Excel using the download icon above the pane.
